Abbey Shirreff
My name is Abbey Shirreff and my passion is Digital art, I draw almost every day on my laptop using my Wacom Tablet and Pen, which is just like drawing on paper but the marks you make on the tablet show up on the screen. I use a program called Paint Tool SAI to paint and draw on my computer, the program allows me to create multiple layers and other functions that would otherwise be impossible on normal pen and paper.
I chose this program because I wanted more time to work on my art, from when I started I couldn’t even draw a proper full body drawing or even attempt a hand, But now I practise daily and have improved to a point where I can draw a full body and different poses and while hands are still a bit of a challenge, I know that one day I’ll be able to do it.
The programs basis was to become an Entrepreneur and make money using our talents skills and passions, so I sell my art through a website called Deviantart, while it may not be the most professional site out there, it’s the easiest to manage and use for me, since it also has many others artists on there, most which are like-minded. It’s a great place in my opinion and I have made friends through this site, as well as sold some designs and art. I have sold about 98 designs the past term.
For the Project, I have been working on multiple things. My first idea was to create an animation, however that was too big a step for me since I’m a beginner at animating, so I scrapped that and started something easier, a comic. The comic has been moving slowly because I have also been doing other things, like working on commissions and designs, as well as a smaller project where we were working on the wall, like the animation, that hasn’t gone as planned either and has taken more time than I would of liked, but we are trying to push through.
This taught me a lot about what I would like to do in my future and what I’m not too keen on, such as painting. However I’m glad I found out now and saved myself some grief in the future rather then find out later.
My future aspiration is to maybe be a part of a cartoon animation team, I really would love to learn how to animate in the future, and I’m working on small animations now! Hopefully in the future I’d like to be making cartoons like Gravity falls and Over the Garden wall.
Recently, I have been meeting face to face with clients and I have one order I’m working on.
