My interests include: creating things, photography/film making, cooking, music and art.

The reason why I chose this program was because I wanted to go further into what I wanted to learn about. In normal classes the teachers organized the lessons and you had to do what they told you by their rules, but in this program I can plan what I do each class and I learn what I want to learn at my own pace.

In the future I am interested in doing nursing, because I really like helping people. But recently I’ve had an interest in special effects makeup, I like this because it allows me to become creative and that’s what I like to do.

At the beginning of the program, Larni and I wanted to make a short film about youth poverty. But a few weeks after beginning that we changed our minds and decided to make a short film about Black Lives Matter.

Once again we changed because we were making no progress in either of these topics. Finally we decided on helping out with the school newsletter, by writing articles and taking photos about what has been going on at school.

We’ve written an article for the College Magazine. The article was about what we have been doing in the program, we interviewed a few students who are a part of the program and recorded down what they answered with. We got paid $20 each for doing this job for Mr.Wyers.

Larni and I have also talked with Mrs.Anders (Yr10 Coordinator) to find out about upcoming events that we can put into the school newsletter.

Before we decided on helping out with the school newsletter, we made a short film to expand our knowledge in filmmaking. We asked people’s opinions on Donald Trump and videoed their answers.

A few weeks before we had to do our pitch, we planned out what we were going to say, Larni couldn’t be there for the pitch so I had to do it myself.

I have sat down and taught Larni about functions on the camera. I also wrote it down and pasted it into my portfolio. We have also taken pictures using the proper ISO function, and the wrong ISO function to show the difference it makes.

I’m hoping that we will have had a few entries in for the school newsletter. By the end of the year I’m hoping we have learnt the camera functions that we will need to take pictures properly.
